NIB Audition Recording Session Info!

Happy New Year SED! With a new year comes new resolutions, new opportunities, and a new #StripesForSpike! This month the focus is the NIB Audition Recording Session!

Follow these steps to help you complete it:

  1. Secure an audition space and date: It can be anywhere, just make sure it has good acoustics for recording, and is free from outside noise. The session doesn’t need to be long either, a couple hours is fine!
  2. Secure recording equipment: See if you can borrow/rent recorders from your music department. If nothing else, a nice phone recorder will do! Make sure you have a way to transfer the recordings as well, whether it’s via CDs, USBs, or email.
  3. ADVERTISE! Ask DOBs and professors to send out emails promoting the session. Use the flyers on this post or on the district website to share on social media and around your campus. You can also check out http://nib.kkytbsonline.com for more info! Encourage especially fellow brothers and sisters to participate!
  4. Hold the event! You can help participants complete the application there, or give them the recording for them to submit on their own. Make sure you take photos and post to the FO5 page to receive credit!

Other helpful info when promoting:

  • ANY collegiate musician can participate, they don’t have to be a brother or sister!
  • Participants will only have to pay for travel to/from Stillwater, they will be provided lodging!
  • SUPER Protip: There is a grant that you can apply for to help pay for travel.
  • Make sure you advertise far enough in advance so people can prepare their auditions

Let’s see how many SED schools we can have represented in the NIB this year!!!

This one’s a little more complicated, so please reach out if you have questions!
